Every Good Friday, people of the Christian faith complain about how they are wished a “happy Good Friday”, as though it is a celebratory occasion. It is, no doubt, a religious day observed by Christians – but it is not happy – it actually commemorates the day Jesus Christ was crucified and takes place two days before Easter. Easter marks the resurrection of Christ and is the most important day in the Christian calendar.
Solemn observations take place in all churches together with processions in the streets re-enacting the crucification.
So, next time, people, wait until Easter and then you can say Happy Easter.
